EMDEF changes Embombeni primary school face

In its continued efforts to promote education among boys and girls, Extra Mile Development Foundation (EMDEF) is working with Embombeni Primary School in Mzimba North from September 2022 to remove barriers affecting girls' and boys’ education.

In its continued efforts to promote education among boys and girls, Extra Mile Development Foundation (EMDEF) is working with Embombeni Primary School in Mzimba North from September 2022 to remove barriers affecting girls’ and boys’ education.

Among others, EMDEF has through the partnership completed a non-functional girls’ changeroom block for girls by finishing the floor, painting the walls, and finishing the draining system.

EMDEF has also provided buckets for bathing, water storage, handwashing, and cleaning at the changeroom block which will now benefit 261 girls at the school.

EMDEF also had a menstrual hygiene management session to share knowledge on proper hygiene practices during menstruation and distributed 70 reusable sanitary pads to 35 adolescent girls, courtesy of the Adolescent Activism Awards 2022 prize from EMDEF Executive Director, Towera Ngwira.

About 486 learners were also sensitized on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and where to report when victimized.
